Economic Development |
Local to Local and Local to Regional Market Development |
Use of all media, but especially focused on internet tools for connecting local and regional consumers with local goods and services vendors. There should be a special focus in the marketplace on vendors that are interested in sustainability related goods and services. |
|
|
Economic Development |
Multi-Purpose Community Market Centers |
Every local goods and services market sub-area (e.g. Auburn, Colfax, North Shore, Rocklin, Roseville, Lincoln, Granite Bay, etc.) should have a market center facility that operates as a point of sale/contact/information for vendors, with an emphasis on local vendors. Publically owned facilities may be included these centers, e.g. performing arts venues, open market facilities, etc. These centers should bring together food preparation, art, produce, locally manufactured goods, entertainment, culture (theater, etc.), and provide an access point for the collection and dissemination of information related to sustainability, including economic interests and opportunities. These centers could be very important to the development of relationships between local vendors and consumers, e.g. participation in Community Supported Ag, Coops, Local Manufacturers, etc. |

Included within this analysis would be opportunities that exist with respect to our sustainable resource economic base, e.g. food and forest products. One immediate interest is the question realistic supply and demand goals and strategies for local food production. Other opportunities may include alternative energy manufacture (solar, wind, bio-mass), other green technology businesses, eco-tourism. |

Economic Development |
