Millenium Villages (MV) is a UN Development Program sponsored initiative supported by the Columbia University "Earth Institute," pioneered by Jeffrey Sachs, a world renown global sustainable economic development expert.  MV is promoting a new sustainable economic development model centered around building the capacity of local communities to help themselves--local capacity building with global expertise support.
