I walk my neighborhood twice daily and wonder at the sterile lawns, isolated families, lack of imagination. In my mind's eye I see beautiful food-producing gardens, streets blocked to traffic, children playing in yards or listening to stories of times past from elders. I see solar panels, solar water heaters, grey-water return systems, community centers where neighbors come together for evening meals and hear speakers or see films. In my mind's eye we can live more beautifully, more sustainably than we ever thought possible. What stops us? What stops you?
