PlacerSustain has entered into a cooperative agreement with the Town of Loomis to faciliate a focused energy conservation and renewable energy initiative in the Shed to Shed area of Downtown for business and property owners that are adjacent to the railroad rights of way. This effort is intended to assist owners to take advantage of the federal Section 1603 30% reimbursement on solar projects. To be eligible, the projects must have commenced construction before December 31, 2011. The initiative also involves the pursuit of the Town's own solar project opportunities.

The Sierra Business Council (SBC) hosts the Sierra Leadership Institute. The Institute has been conducting leadership training programs for a number of years, but this year has framed the program to address climate change and energy innovation, and expanded the program significantly.
