Welcome to Placer Sustain

PlacerSustain is supporting the creation of a Community Sustainability  Network in Placer County.  We organized as a California Non-Profit corporation in May of 2010--in other words--we are just getting started.  The Mission is "connecting people and inspiring collaboration to build healthy communities and thriving local economies." The primary objective is a fully functioning Community Sustainability Network. A Network that is grass roots and open to the entire spectrum of sustainability interests, i.e. Community, Environment, and Economy.  The purpose is to expand our grass roots resources to take Action--action at the level of individuals, groups, businesses, community organizations, and local government. We accomplish this objective by Building Relationships, Sharing information and Learning, and supporting Collaborative Actions that are based on sustainability principles.

Here are some of our activities:

  • Monthly Public Meetings.
  • An online Community Network devoted to sustainability.
  • Developing Relationships with Citizens, Community Organizations, and Government.
  • Bringing together partners to collaborate on opportunities to cooperatively pursue local initiatives, projects, media campaigns, a public community access web portal to community resources, and so on.
  • Indentifying and publishing information about what citizens and organizations are currently doing in various sustainability related fields.
  • Promoting sustainability visions, goals, and objectives, at the individual, business, organization, and community levels.
  • News reporting on what people are doing, what's working, and what isn't.
  • Developing a knowledgebase of sustainability practices, and organizational, web, governmental, and business resources that support sustainable community.
  • Supporting existing community groups and organizations that are taking on projects and programs, and facilitating the formation of new collaborative efforts where desired.

PlacerSustain is staffed by volunteers.  The organization is a California Non-Profit corporation.  We welcome information, participation, and financial support.  You may create an account and become a Registered Member for free; or you may go to the "Become a Member" page and become a dues paying member, or make a donation.  Register, publish your views, tell us about what you are doing, bring information and people!
